StarWars.com reported that Genevieve O’Reilly and Denise Gough have joined the cast of the live-action Cassian Andor series, as well as two previously rumored actors: Stellan Skarsgard and Kyle Soller.
Star Wars connoisseurs will particularly appreciate the addition of O’Reilly as she has previously worked with the franchise in the films Revenge of the Sith (2005) and Rogue One (2016) and the animated series Star Wars Rebels (voice- about). In it, she played Mon Mothma (originally played by Caroline Blakiston in Return of the Jedi), the co-founder and leader of the Rebel Alliance.
It is not yet known what roles the three other actors will take on. Denise Gough is best known from British TV series and gamers will know her as the voice of Yennefer or Vengerberg in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Skarsgard has recently been nominated for an Emmy for his role in the HBO series Chernobyl, where Soller is best known for his role as Francis Poldark in the Poldark series.
Finally, former showrunner Stephen Schiff has been replaced by Tony Gilroy (co-writer of Rogue One), who will also direct the series. Schiff will remain attached to the project as a writer, as will Dan Gilroy (Nightcrawler) and Beau Willimon (House of Cards). It is not yet known when the series will actually appear on Disney+, although it was expected to happen in 2021. In any case, it is positive that the project is certainly not standing still and pre-production is still in full swing.
