Temuera Morrison will play Boba Fett in The Mandalorian, The Hollywood Reporter writes based on unknown sources. The news has not yet been officially confirmed, but The Hollywood Reporter seems pretty certain. Morrison appeared in the prequels as Jango Fett and the clones of the Grand Army of the Republic (and later, the Galactic Empire).
Weren’t the Sarlacc’s tentacles strong enough? Will The Mandalorian show flashbacks? All of that isn’t clear yet, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, the infamous bounty hunter is coming to the second season of The Mandalorian.
Boba Fett would play a minor role in the second season of the Disney+ series. Since Morrison was the face of a clone army, the actor may also be playing a different copy of Jango Fett, Commander Rex for example. However, at the end of the fifth episode of the first season we see someone walking towards Fennec Shand’s body, some say that this was the hint that Fett is still alive and well.
The bounty hunter first appeared in The Empire Strikes Back in 1980, when Jeremy Bulloch played him. Jason Wingreen provided Fett’s voice, but on a later remaster, Morrison re-voiced some of Fett’s dialogue.
Morrison is reportedly not the only popular character to come to the series: it was previously rumored that Rosario Dawson would be playing a live-action version of Ahsoka Tano in the new season. This remains unconfirmed as of yet.
Season 2 of The Mandalorian is scheduled for release in October.
